The Lord has been highlighting the importance of intercession for our ministry.
Intercession is the unseen fuel to the fire, the impartation of strength for long ministry days, the application of God's armor and protection, the releaser of favor in the midst of unforeseen setbacks, the siren that calls the angels to aid in God's work, the trigger that moves the hand of the Lord.
We pray that you intercede over the will of God in your life, your family's life, and your community's life! Do not doubt the power of your prayer!
A few years ago, I was called into intercession for a specific situation that a missionary couple in Tanzania was facing. They were seeing a ton of fruit reaching a previously unreached tribe, but then another group of "Christians" showed up. This other group would preach very aggressively over a megaphone without any love and cultural sensitivity. The missionaries I knew had approached them to try and help them as well to come together in unity, but they refused. They kept showing up unannounced and were actually driving people away from Jesus, leaving a negative taste in their mouths.
After receiving the news of this situation, I started praying and asked God to bring revelation and clarity to the situation. The Holy Spirit highlighted this passage:
"For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ.
And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light."
2 Corinthians 11:13-14 ESV
I forwarded this scripture to my community group at the time, who were privileged to consistently pray for this couple. Our leader passed this information to the missionary couple, and we kept praying. A short time later, this disruptive group was outed for having false motives - they were in Tanzania exploiting the gospel and people for financial gain. I do not know exactly what happened to them, but I do know that after God highlighted this scripture and we went to war in prayer, they never returned. God took care of the situation, but it was our partnership in intercession that resulted in Him breaking through the adversity.
How is God asking you to intercede? What questions is He prompting you to ask Him? Where does He want to give you revelation so you can see greater fruit in your life and in your ministry? Ask God these questions. Ask God to lead you into intercession.
Are you discouraged? Ask God to show you the fruit from your prayers!
